 I wanted to share my new banner with you all…….designed and painted on wood in Folk Art style by Heather of Audrey Eclectic Folk Art……I think it’s wonderful and she interpreted my request brilliantly.  

I asked her for a quirky and rustic scene set in England and France with lavender and lovage featured of course…… 

….as you can see, Heather has painted France to the left with the ubiquitous wine and bread on a table and with lavender fields………she then moves over to the right in a seamless and clever way to portray England with a wee cottage and cottage garden plus a few sheep grazing in the fields…….separating the two countries is a folk art lady dressed in red, white and blue ~ colours of the national flags of both countries and she is posting a letter……musings from home and abroad! There is lavender in the bottom left of the painting and lovage to the bottom right, and the lady has a posy of both herbs in her hand……
 

Logos and banners are hard to choose, you want to create the image and feel of your blog but in an instant way ~ I toyed between minimalist and sophisticated or rural and rustic …….then decided that neither created the feel I wanted……I wanted something quirky and different, not the usual run of the mill design. I have masses and masses of photos I could have used, again, I thought that a bespoke piece of art was more suitable…….anyway, I am really pleased with it, and please do give Heather a visit to see her lovely blog and Etsy store…….THANK YOU Heather!

    Thanks smellslikesalad…..I am so pleased that you think Heather's painting conveys the feel of my blog, that is reassuring and nice to know…..it's so hard to pick an image that portrays all that you want to share with everyone on-line….this does it so well I think.

    It gives your blog a whole different look. More vintage and folksy, will take a little getting used to, but how cool to have your own little work of art! So is that how you dress down in the Auberge? 😉

    LOL! Janice, yes I am always floating around like this!! I know it gives a different feel to the top of the page, but it's still me here, and not in a frock either! It is rather lovely to have your own piece of art work…..I agree.
