A Large Slice of Baguette
with my
Breakfast Club
Detox Fruit Salad
I am a big fan of breakfast ~ I don’t always have time to eat it, yes I know that’s bad, but when I do eat it, I love my bacon butties, scrambled eggs, porridge, toast and home-made jam and pancakes etc. Therefore, one of my favourite monthly blogging challenges is Helen’s (Fuss Free Flavours) Breakfast Club event…..and this month, my lovely friend over the pond in Novia Scotia, Aimée is hosting it, at Food Je t’Aimée. Aimée has set us all a very healthy challenge for January, The January Detox. It’s a great topic to kick start the New Year and I am up for it!
So, I am entering my SUPER healthy detox fruit salad……Hmmm, the eagle eyed amongst you will have spotted a large chunk slice of baguette with butter perched on the side of my platter, I forgot about my detox breakfast, made the fruit salad and FOUND myself buttering the delicious offending non detox breakfast ingredient……tsk tsk, as they say in old fashioned novels. Therefore my Breakfast Club offering is a demi-detox recipe, spread liberally with good intentions, I hope that counts?
To prove to you all that I had good intentions, I am posting my pre-baguette photo, taken before my hand reached out for the lovely carb loaded bread….slathered in fabulous butter, which is not detox and is bad……I know. I will now pose a question, which photo do you prefer? The fruit salad avec baguette or the fruit salad sans baguette? To get back to the boring good bits, this fruit salad is a little stunner, very little chopping is involved and one merely has to plonk arrange the fruit on a plate…..as you can see from my photos.
There is no recipe as such, it is an idea, an assembly job of fresh fruit……it’s actually a favourite breakfast choice for me, and I do eat it without bread sometimes. Simply take at least three of your favourite or seasonal fruits, wash them, chop them if necessary and arrange on a plate for a healthy start to the day; I used bananas, pears, grapes, clementines, oranges and apricots, with a couple of post-Christmas dates……and the baguette of course. I have been known to drizzle honey over the fruit, in a wild and mad moment, be wild and mad if you wish, it’s allowed now and then. So, not quite the sweet treat I promised you for today, but I am on the sweet treat case as we speak, or as I type, have a great day and see you later.
Karen
this look absolutely nice:)
I'm looking at this from the purely aesthetic point of view – and it scores highly!
Unfortunately butter is one of my favourite foods and I have to try hard not to eat too much of it.
They all look beautiful to me Karen!! xxoo
You are good, and even as a non fruit eater at breakfast could be tempted by this. Would have to include the bread too otherwise would be starving by mid morning!
~whimper~ Baguette!
No,no, must concentrate on the yummy fruit!
But – baguette! With butter!
~cries~
Fruit. It's lovely, it's fresh, it makes you feel good. However, it's not a fresh baguette with butter.
*sigh*
😉
That looks like a lovely breakfast, including the bread, tee hee 😀
I love breakfast and can't miss it. I'd definitely keep the bread though as just fruit doesn't fill me up – I'd actually say I need carbs for breakfast or I feel ill!
That all looks sooooo refreshing Karen.
If it makes you feel any better, I often eat bread and butter with fruit, my favourite breakfast of all time is wholemeal soda bread with butter and then mashed fresh raspberries on top … who needs jam! So yes I like the pic with the baguette 😀
It all looks so colourful and divine. Sigh .. I want fruit now. Love fruit just forgotten that after all the Xmas food until I made the compote.
Detox is a lot of nonsense anyway, your body gets rid of all it's toxins all the time. That looks nice and healthy though lots of lovely fruit and that butter baguette – mmmmm!
Definitely better with the baguette! Butter is mandatory 🙂
Thanks for taking part in Breakfast Club! Lovely fruit and breat with honey. i do find it hard to forgo the butter however!
Three cheers for semi-detox! 😉 Despite choosing the theme, I’m a firm unbeliever in diets, and a firm believer in balance and the odd (ok, frequent) indulgence – so I would have gone for the butter, too 😉 It’s balanced out by all that lovely fruit.
Absolutely love that last shot – plate against wood! Beautiful lighting and colour! xo
Thanks Aimee! I was quite pleased with the photos too, the light was good that day!
