Meal Planning Monday:
Melted Cheese, Vanilla Cakes, Sandwiches and Salads

Meal Planning Monday: 18th June 2012
It’s been a manic and wonderful week……lots of travelling and meeting family, with meals out, as well as relaxing meals in too…..but, now we are home, it’s time to get down to another planner for this week’s menu. One of my “blogger” friends asked me on last week’s Meal planner how I plan, and where the recipes and images come from for my meal planning Monday posts, and this is my answer:
“Some are recipes that I have made already and are regulars at our dinner table, our favourites! Some are BEING made and will be blogged this week, some have been made ages ago, and photographed, and are in the plan for the week as I have the ingredients available, and some I don’t know yet! SO, yes, a bit of both, made and are being remade, are on the blog this week and WILL be made and others are not recipes as such, but we have them often and I have photos! My Cornish Pasties are made, and will be eaten and on the blog tomorrow! Karen”
My answer above, in a nutshell, is exactly how my meal plan comes together each week……..and do I follow it to the letter? Nope! Last week’s meal planner was moved and nudged about all week, as I visited family and attended special events……I did use most of the recipes, but the days were out-of-order and some meals that were planned for midweek, were made over the weekend instead. I see this weekly post as a way to try to make me more organised in the kitchen, insofar as I will plan around ingredients I know I have in the pantry and freezer, as well as what I have on my shopping list to buy, and ultimately make. It’s a loose timetable of “desired” and “recommended” eating, with a tweak here and there…….in reality, the fact I make any sort of plan at all is astonishing, as I LOVE to be impulsive and hate being “spoon fed” with rules and regulations…...in short, I am a bit of a culinary rebel! The other reason for posting this weekly meal plan is to share recipe ideas with you…….and, judging by some of the comments I receive each week, it has proved to be a popular source of inspiration for some of you, which is fabulous! So, here we go again, jump on the Lavender and Lovage Meal Plan Merry-Go-round and don’t forget that some of the meals (with photos), will be posted this week in a separate post with the relevant recipes attached. Have a great week, see you later, Karen.

With thanks to Mrs M who hosts this meal plan blog hop every week.
I’m another who loves these posts, they’re so inspiring!
THANKS so much for saying so Kathryn….it’s wonderful to hear that and I am always MORE than happy to share my weekly plan! Karen 🙂
I do a weekly menu, too much in the same manner as you. Summer is a grand time to
menu plan, isn’t it?
Hi M! It is a good time to plan, but the weather in the UK and Europe has been AWFUL….and although I LOVE salads all year around, the thoughts of casseroles is drawing me closer to my le creuset pots and pans!
Ooh, to come for lunch chez vous! Your meal plans look fab. “Tartiflette” is one of my favourite words to say in French… hehe… just love the way it sounds! (Tastes pretty good, too! ;))
Hope you’re well! xo
I am fine thanks Aimee, sorry to have been AWOL – need to check your blog – have been away for 5 weeks and then 1 week, so have been shooting on to post and then shooting off! I also love the word TARTIFLETTE!
The ‘posh’ cheese on toast looks very very nice indeed. I also really like the look of the herb and cream cheese sandwiches. My five year olds favourite pasta is spinach and cream cheese yet for some reason I’ve never though about putting it in between two slices of bread before!
THANKS! I DO love spinach and cream cheese together, in pasta as well as cooking….I adore cream cheese in sandwiches and often use it in place of butter or margarine.
Thanks for answering my question Karen! I do a meal plan, although it’s more of a shopping list and, like you, sometimes it doesn’t quite happen, or I see something on special offer and have to have it! I do find that planning means less waste though.
Me too Janice…the plan is a moveable feast, depending on all sorts of things!
great post! it’s given me loads of ideas for the kitchen next week!
GLAD it gave you some ideas for the week ahead!
Oh you are so good and that Tartiflette cheese on sourdough looks divine. I need to have that for my lunch. As for the rest, delicious. I need to meal plan but don’t think I ever have. I am getting fed up with cooking once at 5 for the kids then again for the two of us later on. But hopefully that will change once the youngest goes to school in September. I hope!
Thanks Laura; actually I have been a little bad, I have just swapped the days around for one recipe! LOL! Still, this is a great aide memoir to help me through the week….Karen
Some very healthy dishes. Good pictures. I wish I could meal plan and cook like you.
Thank you ,I will try to do it.
I have never tried cake , These cake looks awesome!
