Rosemary is my favourite without a doubt, we use it on everything 🙂
Mine too Liz, and I LOVE it in baking such as bread and scones too!
Coriander, chocolate mint and Rosemary. Threefold reasons – I grow them easily, love adding them to my recipes and/or tinctures and the weather/slugs leave them alone. Well, apart from my coriander so I grow that indoors.
If I had to choose one it would be my Rosemary as it is a prolific grower on our rocky-mountain plot and once it has dried, (after cutting) I grind it down and add it to soups, veggie stews, pizza, casseroles, you name it I add it.
THANKS so much Susan, what a great answer, and I am with you all the way too! I ADORE chocolate mint, it’s one of my favourite herbs….rosemary will be very popular I think!
My favourites are rosemary and thyme.
BOTH great in the kitchen for so many things….
Coriander, basil and thyme are my favourites to cook with.
ALL so useful in the kitchen!
Mint. 🙂
A favourite of mine too!
Rosemary would be my favourite too, love it combined with garlic on Lamb, roast potatoes and so on
PERFECT combination for lamb and spuds!
Mint is my favourite one that I’ve ever been able to grow. I probably use coriander the most though.
I also love mint, but mine runs rampant in my garden!
I use thyme a lot, since I have it in abundance, but I can never cook that much to use it all. I like Rosemary as well – it’s on the windowsill.
Windowsill herbs are a boon throughout the year!
Basil! I use it loads in my baby’s pasta sauces as in the middle of weaning 🙂
GREAT herb and so versatile too!
I have a balcony garden which has mostly culinary herbs – also a bank of geraniums which have grown a lot larger than I expected! – the herbs I use most are mint which I use in black tea and rosemary which I always add to roast potatoes with garlic and pepper.
That sounds lovely – and I love the idea of a bank of geraniums too!
My bay tree, use lots of bay leaves and love to just rub the leaves for the scent whilst out in the garden.
I LOVE my Bay Tree too!
I love rosemary for the scent if you brush it and because it can be grown so easily without having to take much care of it. I use bay leaves from a bay tree we have the most.
I am lucky enough to have both in my garden….love them!
Rosemary is my favourite but I also love basil and oregano for Italian cooking.
ALL wonderful aromatics!
I love sage and mint and always make my own sage and onion stuffing and int sauce fresh from the garden!
I always make my own stuffing too!
So hard to choose, but I think the ones I seem to pick and use most are mint, thyme and rosemary. Oh and bay leaves too. They’re all my favourites!
You are like me, you love them all! 🙂
Oh Karen, what a question. I love all herbs and would hate to be without them. Fresh dill leaves is a relatively recent one for me and I adore it, but if I had to pick only one, it would undoubtedly be parsley because it’s just so versatile and so useful and so delicious and so good for you.
And I didn’t know you were writing for Sarah Raven. Don’t know how I managed to miss that – very well done you.
Thanks! Posted a little article about my Sarah Raven writing…..and I also LOVE parsley for its versatility!
Where to start! Basil is probably my favourite but they all have their place in the kitchen
Basil is GREAT for summer I always think!
I use Bay from my Bay trees nearly every day, and mint of course. I use curry leaves an awful lot and Basil too.
I LOVE bay – so useful in soups and stews!
We love Mint and use a lot of it in cooking, plus the kids just love to pick it and smell it
I am a mint lover too!
we have quite a few herbs in our garden but its probably the mint or parsley
LOVE mint Laura!
without a doubt it has to be rosemary…. I pretty much put it in everything, although I have to say that lemon thyme is coming up a close second!… great give away, thanks xx
Rosemary is such a useful herb!
This year, I’m liking Sorrel:)
I LOVE sorrel!
Hello! I love growing chives and basil the best, because I can get them to grow really big, to a cut and come again stage, which considering I’m rather a garden amateur is quite an accomplishment. We love to use the basil for tomato pasta dishes and the chives in fish sauces 😀
Chives are SO versatile and mine come back every year…..
Although I have a few herbs in the garden, my favourite is french tarragon, I think I am addicted to a tarragon sauce on my chicken!
I ADORE French Tarragon too and have a great chicken recipe using it!
love rosemary & trying to use it more. using a lot of sage at the minute 🙂
I have been embracing sage lately!
I don’t have a favourite as I grow so many herbs but Thyme is the one I use most – although Lemon Verbena makes a lovely refreshing cup of afternoon tea and sage risotto is just gorgeous. I also love that sage is supposed to help in keeping the years at bay! Lavender because it’s the essence of summer (and great in biscuits and cakes), bay (used in all my savoury cooking), I couldn’t be without coriander or black peppermint, lime mint is lovely in salads as is fennel, sweet cicely seeds are delicious, horseradish, dill, chives, basil, and not forgetting the bank of golden oregano that lights up my herb garden … See, no favourites because I love them all!!!
I LOVE lemon verbena too and like you, all herbs are my culinary and medicinal friends!
These are lovely, i love using fresh herbs when cooking and my other half loves his allotment and growing things from seed
Great – Good Luck in the giveaway!
My favourite herb is basil – I love tomatoes and the two go together perfectly. Basil also makes the kitchen / garden smell amazing.
Basil is amazing with tomatoes, I must admit it’s my favourite herb with them!
i love most herbs to be fair but my favourite foods are indian and italian so i have to say my favourites are coriander & Basil. yummers!
Coriander is a must in my curries!
I love rosemary bushes in the garden, but I use lots of coriander seed when I’m cooking – not so keen on the leaves. I have grown coriander, but it’s a hassle stripping all the seeds 🙂
Funny how many people like the seeds but not the leaves of coriander!
Our favourites are basil, chives, and dill – the latter a hangover from my time in Russia, the Russians put it in EVERYTHING!
I also LOVE dill!
I love using Lovage – a great source of nutrients and it grows so quick
Lovage is MY favourite herb!
I grow rosemary and organo in the garden, which i both love a lot! And I grow basil on the window sill as I never had much luck with outdoor basil. These 3 are my essentials 🙂
A LOVELY choice of herbs to grow!
It’s hard to pick a favourite. In the garden, I love lavender for its lovely flowers and fragrance, but I find it overwhelming in baking. The most used in my cooking are mint, parsley, basil, bay, oregano and thyme. Our parsly isn’t doing too well at the moment, I sometimes have to b-u-y it!
Yes, you have to be VERY discreet with Lavender in baking and cooking, but when done in small amounts, I LOVE it!
Thyme is my most used herb from the garden, I use lot’s of it in Sunday roasts!
SUCH a useful herb Thyme, I LOVE mine!
My fave herb is fresh coriander – love the distinctive taste, especially in salads 🙂 From herbs that can grow in my garden I’d have to go for Rosemary – love using it on roasties 🙂
I also LOVE fresh coriander too…..and in curries for me!
That’s difficult. I love thyme for its gorgeous smell and its unique taste. I also use rosemary and sage a lot as welll
A fabulous and versatile herb, Thyme, I love it!
I love mint in the garden because of the smell and parsley grows really easily, even if you do end up with a whole garden full! 🙂 Needless to say, I use a lot of parsley in my cooking.
Mine is Rosemary it grows very quickly in our garden I use it in soups, casseroles, and to add flavor to homemade pizza 🙂
They are BOTH very easy to grow and are essential in the kitchen!
Basil, rosemary & chives. I use basil and chives mainly, but can’t beat fresh rosemary with a leg of lamb.
I love growing and using rosemary.
Rosemary is proving very popular!
Lemon Thyme is my favourite and the same thyme is used the most for garnish, stuffing, and lovely under the skin of roast chicken.
I also LOVE lemon thyme too!
Coriander is my favourite. As well as for my curries I love to add a bit for zing in my salads.
LOVE it in curries too!
I love the smell of Rosemary in the garden and use it quite a lot. Obviously it’s fantastic with lamb which is my favourite meat 🙂
I think that rosemary will be a VERY popular herb as it is so versatile!
oregano as its fab with mince recipes
I LOVE oregano in all Italian recipes!
Rosemary, its so versatile!
It is a GREAT herb!
My favourite herbs in the garden are Thyme and Rosemary. My most used herbs in cooking are basil, coriander and parsley.
ALL of them winners in the kitchen!
My favourite herb in the garden has got to be lovage, I love the yeasty celery flavour it imparts to soups, stews and casseroles. My favourite in the kitchen is thyme its so versatile and is great in so many dishes
I think I use Chives the most, regularly make potato salad with them and nice chopped on top of scrambled eggs etc.
Basil, I add it to everything!
I love it with tomatoes!
basil and parsley i use them all the time
Great every day herbs!
I use basil the most, I have some growing in a pot on the window
mint is my favourite! i love using basil in my dishes
My favourite herb of the moment is Lemon Thyme..I love it it is great with chicken, sausages, roasted veg…allsorts. I also love using my mint …you can’t beat the smell of lovely minted new potatoes..delish!
Rosemary – Besides using it in soups and stews I also use it for fish
I love rosemary which is good because I have a huge rosemary bush in the garden!
Sage is the easiest to grow, but you can’t beat Rosemary to taste xx
What a lovely surprise, I’ll look forward to planting and harvesting next year 🙂
I was SO chuffed when rafflecopter turned up your name!
