Review:
Ragu and Chicken Tonight Hampers
for EASY and NUTRITIOUS Family Meals!
Two hampers arrived for me recently, and I have been cooking and stirring with the contents ever since! I was sent some samples of some amazing and very tasty sauces, all packed up safely in the two hampers, by the very kind people at Chicken Tonight UK and Ragu UK. Now, I MUST own up here, I USUALLY make all my own sauces, from scratch, when cooking, BUT, it is REALLY nice now and then to cut corners and whip up a family meal in a flash, and that is JUST what these sauces allow you to do! I DO have lots more cooking to do with my sample sauces, as I was sent a LOVELY lot to try, but to kick off, I am sharing my first experiences here, and this is my review for Chicken Tonight (my Ragu review to follow later) and I can honestly say, that as a “from-scratch-sauce-maker” I was VERY impressed and pleased with the taste as well as the ingredients that are in the sauces – the FIRST meal I made was with the LOW FAT Honey and Dijon Mustard Sauce and I loved it, and more to the point, my husband, (who is VERY picky) also liked it and said he would be happy to eat it again, and believe me when I say that that is a BIG result!
The meal was SO easy to assemble – all I had to do was chop up some chicken breasts into chunks, brown them in a pan for a few minutes and then chuck in the Chicken Tonight sauce, and allow to simmer on the hob top for 15 minutes………SIMPLES! Whilst my chicken was simmering away in its tangy sauce, I cooked some rice and fresh green beans – everything was ready to serve at the same time, and the whole meal took 30 minutes from start to meal on the table finish. The chicken was moist and the sauce full of flavour, almost like a creamy sweet and sour sauce; there were lots of carrots in with the sauce, and they did not disintegrate and were still quite crunchy! The honey and Dijon mustard was pronounced, and yet NOT too overpowering……..it really was a very nice meal and ONLY 105 calories per serving too, with a great saturated fat reading of 0.4g, which is excellent.
And below are the simple instructions that I had to follow, which resulted in my tasty meal in under half and hour:
Low fat Sweet but Tangy Honey & Dijon Mustard Sauce…..with carrots & onions

I have also cooked two more meals, I have made a lovely meal with Simply Bag & Bake – Even Easier New York BBQ Chicken Seasoning Mix…with tomatoes & paprika and also a VERY tasty chicken supper made with Mediterranean Inspired Spanish Chicken Sauce…with peppers, olive oil & thyme……….
If you have tried Chicken Tonight in the past, DO try it again, as my hamper contained some jars of the NEW range of sauces and there is a staggering 14 different sauces and seasoning bags to choose from! We were certainly impressed with the sauces we have tried so far, and for a stress free family meal, I cannot recommend them enough! With thanks to Chicken Tonight and Ragu for sending me the hampers of sauces to sample and review. I will be back later this week with my review on the Ragu sauces I have tried and used, and I will also be using some of the sauces to make my own recipes up in the future too! See you later with a Cognac post as well as Random Recipe entry……..Karen
