Round-Up:
Forever Nigella #18
Fridge Raid Snacks – In the manner of Nigella!
Here I am with my Forever Nigella Round-Up and thanks so much to all of you who entered into the fun of things and RAIDED their fridges at night, in the manner of Nigella, probably in satin dressing gowns…….I had NINE tasty entries, and it gives me great pleasure to list them below in the manner of a Forever Nigella round-up! Thanks to Sarah from Maison Cupcake for entrusting me with her “blogging challenge baby” and hello to Nazima from Working London Mummy, who is the guest host for September……and the theme is RIGHT on the money, as it is Packed Lunch Stars– just in time for the return to school! I have bookmarked a few if the following recipes, as there are REAL wowsers included, so here we are, Fridge Raid Snacks – In the manner of Nigella, the round-up!
First down the stairs was Mamacook and a VERY tasty looking Tandoori Chicken dish…..LUSH! Mamacook linked this up to the fridge raiding Nigella event, because as she says….”trust me, this is delicious cold!”…. I BELIEVE you! LOVELY photo too by the way…..
Next to raid the fridge was Recipe Junkie with one if my FAVOURITE Nigella recipes, and the same one that I made for this event, that I never got around to posting – yes it’s the delectable Porchetta Inglese! Recipe Junkie made it a little more “English” for her French guest by changing the stuffing, using sage and Bramley apple rather than rosemary bay and garlic. Hence Porchetta Inglese!
A devilish delight is in store for us next, when Miss C Flash from Food Glorious Food made a Devils Food Cake for the event……she made the cake for a cake sale and the cake sold fast, unfortunately she didn’t get a slice but there’s always next time…..I would definitely sneak down the stairs for a slice of this!
Another FRIDGE RAID delight from Recipe Junkieagain and ANOTHER favourite of mine too….Meatloaf – mini or otherwise; I LOVE cold meatloaf, and especially in sarnies! I LOVE the fact that this meatloaf has Reggae Reggae Sauce in too……
MY good chum Jude from A Trifle Rushedwas next at the fridge, at Midnight, and she made a STUNNING looking Corsican Omelette…….Jude shared her lovely omelette with her husband but she left a little piece in the fridge for a MIDNIGHT raid! (the dog didn’t think that was a great idea, as he really wanted to try it too)
BAKING IN FRANGLAIS really turned up the heat with this next entry, a FABULOUS looking CHOCOLATE GUINNESS CAKE! And she says….”If you haven’t tried it yet I would strongly recommend this stunning cake for a charity cake stall or a special occasion. It’s not cheap to make but it cuts into about 16 slices and is always well received”……I can see why!
From cake to PIE! And a GLORIOUS seasonal Apple and Blackberry Pie baked by Vanilla Frost! She used Nigella’s recipe for apple and blackberry pie, from ‘How to be a Domestic Goddess’, and she can’t recommend it enough. It was delicious and simple to make. I HAVE this bookmarked to make with my blackberries!
Another LUSH looking Nigella Devil’s Food Cake is next, and this one comes from Baker Street! Baker street says…..”When it comes to raiding the fridge, for most of us, it is post-midnight when the pangs cannot be ignored any more. And it is in such circumstances one realizes the true taste and power of a simple piece of cake”….YES! I am so with you there!
Our last DELECTABLE entry is MORE chocolate and this time we can all enjoy a few chunks of Chocolate Pistachio Fudge, made by Caroline from Cake, Crumbs and Cooking! Caroline says you can find the original recipe for Chocolate Pistachio Fudge on Nigella’s website…..for FRIDGE raid enjoyment!
THANKS to all the participants of the
GREAT NIGELLA FRIDGE RAID!
Look out for the next Forever Nigella……..over at London Working Mummy’s Blog!
some great recipes aren’t there. Looking forward to the Packed Lunch Stars challenge for September
Thanks so much for your TWO stunners Sally! I LOVED them both! Karen

THANKS so much for your LOVELY entry! 🙂 Karen
What fabulous entries. The chocolate guinness cake and and Baker street’s entry for Devil’s food cake are simply stunning.
I MUST try that Chocolate Guinness cake, looks amazing!
I am desperate for some of that fudge!
Looks LUSH doesn’t it Jac!
I’m gutted I didn’t have time to join in but a great selection of recipes here. Will try my best for Sep but travelling half of it so will trying to come up with recipes that will fit at least 3-4 blog challenges! 🙂
NEVER mind, there is always next time Ros! 🙂 Karen
Great round up, Karen! Thanks for hosting. It was such a lovely idea.
Looking forward to the packed lunch challenge now. 🙂
Thanks so much for entering your STUNNING cake! Karen
As a dedicated fridge raider, I cannot believe I missed this event! I am sitting here, having foraged a bit of yoghurt and some tinned peaches from our fridge (a pathetic effort, I know), feeling very hard done by. Oh for a slice of that meatloaf (not to mention a slice of cake for after…).
NEVER mind Lucy, another time, another fridge raid! Next time I am eating from the fridge, I will give you a shout! Karen
Looking at this lot I feel like sneaking to my fridge immeadiately and doing my best Nigella impression…I could just do with a late night snack! 🙂
Thanks Laura! hehehehehe! A fridge raid is always good fun!
Chocolate Guiness Cake is a favourite in our house. Some lovely recipes in your round up.
I have never made a chocolate and Guinness cake funnily enough, although it has always appealed to me!
Karen I missed it! The end of the holdays caught up with me and I barely had time to blog anything at all! Herbs and TTT all firmly marked on the editorial calendar!!!! A lovely round up, lots of brilliant Nigella-ness xxx
I KNOW Ren! I am so behind and STILL have to do my Herbs on Saturday round-up, as I “Lost” my word.doc file with all the entries on it! NEVER mind, another time for a Nigella-esque recipe! Karen
