“Hello Fresh”
Ingredients for Three meals with Recipe Cards = Dinner in a Flash!
I have had the privilege of receiving a Hello Fresh three meal box before, last year, you can read about my experiences here: Hello Fresh ~ Magic Menus and Great Food with Salmon for Fish on Friday, so when Hello Fresh asked me if I would like to review another box by way of a thank you, I was delighted to accept. Why you may ask, as I am known for my own recipe creations and regularly develop recipes for big brands as well as smaller artisan companies; well, I am so engrossed in cooking and recipe developing that sometimes it’s nice to take the day, or three days in this case, off! Before I share the three recipes that I made with my recent box, let me tell you a little but more about Hello Fresh and how it operates…….
Step 1: Every week our chefs create amazing recipes for you that are easy to prepare.
Our meals are interesting yet simple. And we ensure that your diet is balanced and varied. You’ll love the food you cook with Hello Fresh!

As before, I was sent a three meal (meat) box for two people, and as I said before, I was VERY impressed with the quality of the ingredients, as well as the recipes that were enclosed. Everything needed for the three recipes was included, and all ready portioned for easy and yet imaginative meals. I was amazed to see lovely fresh free range chicken from a local family business..….as well as Scottish cod fillets from James Knight of Mayfair……the herbs and vegetables were super fresh, and all the condiments and sauces that were needed to cook the recipes were included too…..it’s all a doddle to cook, but, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, and I can report that all three meals were excellent with well-balanced flavours and super fresh ingredients too. The three recipes and ingredients that were in my box were:
Chicken Paillard with Crushed Rosemary Potatoes, Rocket and Gremolata
Roasted Chicken with Chorizo, Pearl Barley and CousCous Jumble
Roasted Coconut Cod with Shiitake Mushrooms, Mange Tout and Egg Noodles
All of the meals were delicious, but the cod in particular was wonderful, with amazing flavour combinations, textures and flavours. All the herbs and spices were included – no need to weigh or measure anything, and the recipes cards come with amazingly clear step-by-step instructions……and even though I consider myself to be an imaginative and more than competent cook, I LOVED how easy it was to cook PROPER home-cooked meals after a long day at work and I imagine that one of the five meal boxes would be a boon for a busy working family for evening meals.
Roasted Coconut Cod with Shiitake Mushrooms, Mange Tout and Egg Noodles: Our favourite meal from the three meal box; lime, chilli, ginger and coconut are the main flavours in this dish, and marry perfectly with crisp mange tout and earthy shiitake mushrooms, all served on a bed of egg noodles. Wonderful Asian flavours that worked well together.
Roasted Chicken with Chorizo, Pearl Barley and CousCous Jumble: Interesting flavours with chicken and chorizo being the meaty elements. Pearl barley is mixed with couscous for an extra nutty taste and feta cheese blends well with the meat and spring onions. This would make a nice lunch box salad to take to work.
Chicken Paillard with Crushed Rosemary Potatoes, Rocket and Gremolata: Delicious Smithfield chicken breasts served with a fabulous crunchy salad of rocket and radishes with herb infused new potatoes and a fresh, zingy gremolata – this was a wonderful dinner dish that had “French Cordon Bleu” written all over it.

Disclaimer: I received a three meal box for two people as mentioned above for free from Hello Fresh for the purposes of writing this review. However, I would only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Karen S Burns-Booth
I am sooo happy you liked the recipes! We’ve worked so hard over the past year to make our boxes better and better so feedback like this means the world to us! Thanks again and happy cooking! 🙂 Patrick
Many thanks for sending me another review box over Patrick – the recipes are truly tasty with imaginative ingredients and a great combination of flavours! Karen
What a good idea and the recipe cards look so tasty!
I’d love to try this – the whole week could be planned out. It’s a little expensive but you’ve got to think that all the work’s been taken out (apart from the cooking).
