Easter Chickens!
A Lovely Easter Present by Post from Honeywell Bakes
(Review)
On a cold Maundy Thursday, with snow still on the ground, a parcel arrived for me……now, a parcel is always welcome at any time of the year, but never more than when that parcel contains delicious little iced biscuits – just in time for Easter! The biscuits were nestled in tissue paper inside a lovely “arts and crafts” style box with gaily striped string and a hand stamped label proclaiming them to be “Spring Chickens” and the sender was the delicious sounding Honeywell Bakes from York in England. My beautiful seasonal biscuit set contained two mother hens, two chicks and two wonderful speckled eggs……..and I could hardly wait to taste them!
The kettle was duly filled and put on to boil, teacups and saucers as well as side plates were set out in readiness for my “spring chicken” treat and my farmyard friends sat looking at me from their brown box. This “mother hen” biscuit set is the perfect little gift for Easter, mothers, mother to be or children – or anyone who’d like to live the good life, so say Honeywell Bakes! It is easy to fall in love with this mother hen and her chicks – and, don’t forget you can eat them! And eat them I did! Well, I tried an egg and a small chick to accompany my cup of tea. The biscuits were lovely – almost like a shortbread, they were soft, sweet and crumbly. The eggs are chocolate flavoured, whilst the chicken tasted buttery . I can imagine them all nesting in a basket for the Easter Tea Time Table!
This biscuit set certainly put a smile on my face, and I imagine that this set, or any of the lovely biscuit sets that Honeywell Bakes offer would make unique and tasty gifts for friends and family…….for birthdays, anniversaries, get well wishes, good luck, sorry, moving house and countless other occasions. There are boating biscuit sets, zoo animal biscuit sets, a Wimbledon biscuit set, fruit and vegetable biscuit sets, tea time biscuit sets, spring biscuit sets, new-born biscuit sets, birthday biscuit sets, new home biscuit sets and many more. All of their products can be sent anywhere in the UK, and the biscuit sets are sent for free.
I ABSOLUTELY love them, and apart from the lovely crumbly texture and delicious taste of my wee chickens, they were beautifully wrapped and presented too. I have one of these unique biscuit sets (a double-layered set) to give away on my blog, you can enter to win a set of your choice here: Giveaway: Win 2-Layer Gift Set of Biscuits from Honeywell Bakes. These stylish and elegant biscuits will not only bring a smile to your face, but they taste delicious too.
Verdict: Lavender and Lovage gives them a well-deserved 5 out of 5 for home-made taste, looks, packaging, uniqueness, humour and delivery. Plus, in today’s world of mass-produced and commercial bakes and cakes, it’s SO nice to be able to support a local artisan business.
Disclaimer: I was sent a biscuit gift set for free from Honeywell Bakes ; all opinions and views are my own. I was not required to write this review, but I chose to share these lovely biscuits with my readers as I was so impressed with them.
