A traditional barley soup from the region I grew up in Switzerland. But as much as I try mine is never quite so tasty as my mums
I have my mum’s old handwritten recipe book, containing a lot of recipes used by her mum and grandma, so date from late 19th/early 20th century. The ones I use most often are sage and onion stuffing and Christmas cake, plus my Scottish grandma’s recipe for butteries (aka rowies).

I’m not sure I have one but wish we did in my family. My mum is quite a cook but I wouldn’t call any of her recipes vintage.
I don’t know if this counts but my dad gave me a cook book that he and my mum were given when they got married over 20 years ago. It was the first time I had baked a Victoria Sponge cake and developed my love for baking. Victoria Sponge to me is a timeless classic, a vintage special so to speak.

We used to go to my nan’s after school and we’d get rich tea biscuits with butter on them and and a very small glass of sherry!! Not vintage or a recipe but that’s what we were given! We loved it as well!
