It’s JUST a week away until Easter Sunday, the day when Easter bunny hops around with his basket full of eggs, and egg hunts abound in most people’s gardens, weather permitting of course. It’s a four-day festival, starting with Good Friday and ending on Easter Monday, and there are lots of amazing recipes associated with this wonderful spring feast such as: Hot Cross Buns; Pace Eggs; Roast Lamb and Cakes of all shapes and sizes. As well as all of the traditional fare, I also like to serve treats for breakfast and tea, such as Easter Eggy Bread: Raspberry & Vanilla “Pain Perdu” (French Toast) and some pretty little pots of creme egg desserts with chocolate spoons and chocolate bunnies!

Although spices buns and fresh seasonal lamb and vegetables feature on the Easter menu, it has  to be chocolate that steals the show, and although I am more of a savoury person, I DO love a nice piece of chocolate cake or an Easter egg as well as a creamy chocolate dessert. Every year, I always try to create a spectacular cake for Easter, it doesn’t have to have to be chocolate, but it’s nice to indulge in an excess of cocoa by way of a treat; and this year I think I have created my most indulgent cake yet, a towering chocolate mansion filled with chocolate cream cheese, topped with more of the same and then decorated with a white chocolate drizzle, mini chocolate buttons before being adorned with some Cadbury’s creme eggs…..and it’s mega!

My recipe for Creme Egg Chocolate Drizzle Cake was commissioned by Great British Chefs, and if you fancy making this fabulous cake, then the recipe is here: Creme Egg Chocolate Drizzle Cake on Great British Chefs. But, I’ve not finished just yet with my chocolate baking, so do pop back after the weekend to see what other Easter treats I have up my sleeve……and if you fancy something chocolate for breakfast, then why not make a batch of my CHOCOLATE ORANGE CURD to spread on your toast, or even your Hot Cross Buns.

ooooh, it’s like the big brother of my little ones… yours looks so gorgeous and just so naughty too… i’ve been munching away on my little cakes all day and now feel thoroughly sick but I could still manage a slice of yours. Absolutely stunning and you have such a beautiful way to make things look to seasonal. Like a classic still life painting, really beautiful Karen. xxx

Wow. That cake made me chuckle – it should be called “easter fight cake”. It looks like the yummy result of some kids arguing over who gets the last creme egg.

Hi Karen, I just wish I could bake and cook with Cadbury’s chocolates like you do! :( I have to treat them like gold, as it’s a rare treat to have “real” Cadbury’s here in the US. Your Easter lineup of chocolate desserts is just phenomenal! Nice work!!

Heaven’s that’s one massive cake! Wowie! My children would love something like this, but I’m afraid my waistline would love it too, so much so it would never let it go! Looks so delicious :)

What a stunning cake! I am not a big fan of cream eggs they are too sweet but they do look good on your cake.

I love this cake (surprised I didn’t comment when I first saw it) and as soon as I saw it I decided it would be an easter-cum-birthday cake because it looked so spectacular and yet not too hard to put together. I found the white chocolate wouldn’t drizzle so well and I couldn’t find the chocolate cream cheese spread in the supermarket on the day I wanted to buy it (though they do stock it sometimes) but these were minor hiccups and it looked impressive and tasted decadent. Have posted my version on my blog though I wish I could photograph cakes like you – your photos are just lovely.
