A BIG Easter Cake!
Creme Egg Chocolate Drizzle Cake
It’s JUST a week away until Easter Sunday, the day when Easter bunny hops around with his basket full of eggs, and egg hunts abound in most people’s gardens, weather permitting of course. It’s a four-day festival, starting with Good Friday and ending on Easter Monday, and there are lots of amazing recipes associated with this wonderful spring feast such as: Hot Cross Buns; Pace Eggs; Roast Lamb and Cakes of all shapes and sizes. As well as all of the traditional fare, I also like to serve treats for breakfast and tea, such as Easter Eggy Bread: Raspberry & Vanilla “Pain Perdu” (French Toast) and some pretty little pots of creme egg desserts with chocolate spoons and chocolate bunnies!
Although spices buns and fresh seasonal lamb and vegetables feature on the Easter menu, it has to be chocolate that steals the show, and although I am more of a savoury person, I DO love a nice piece of chocolate cake or an Easter egg as well as a creamy chocolate dessert. Every year, I always try to create a spectacular cake for Easter, it doesn’t have to have to be chocolate, but it’s nice to indulge in an excess of cocoa by way of a treat; and this year I think I have created my most indulgent cake yet, a towering chocolate mansion filled with chocolate cream cheese, topped with more of the same and then decorated with a white chocolate drizzle, mini chocolate buttons before being adorned with some Cadbury’s creme eggs…..and it’s mega!
My recipe for Creme Egg Chocolate Drizzle Cake was commissioned by Great British Chefs, and if you fancy making this fabulous cake, then the recipe is here: Creme Egg Chocolate Drizzle Cake on Great British Chefs. But, I’ve not finished just yet with my chocolate baking, so do pop back after the weekend to see what other Easter treats I have up my sleeve……and if you fancy something chocolate for breakfast, then why not make a batch of my CHOCOLATE ORANGE CURD to spread on your toast, or even your Hot Cross Buns.
Before I hop off and make my way to the kitchen for yet more baking…….I also have another chocolate recipe to share that is perfect for Easter, an easy to make and very indulgent ORGANIC CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE CAKE, which is decorated with crystallised violets for a pretty spring theme. That’s all for today, I hope you have found some Easter and Spring baking (and cooking) recipe inspiration in this post – do pop back soon for some more new recipes, kitchen news and chat. Have a wonderful weekend, Karen
…….And, finally a slice for you………
As this is a special Easter Bake, I am also entering this fabulous and decadent cake into Ruth from The Pink Whisk’s Easter Bake & Make Competition!
