Better with Brita:
How to get the BEST from your Ingredients
with Filtered Water
It’s quite simply a “no brainer” as many people say, if you cook and bake with filtered water, you get MUCH better results and your soups and cordials will be clearer and brighter plus the taste will be cleaner and fresher too. You only have to look at a cup of fresh tea made with filtered water and then compare it with a cup made with non-filtered water to see the dramatic difference – there is no “scum” of “clouding” on top of the tea made with filtered water and it will be crystal clear and taste of tea, which is what most people want I imagine. Regular Lavender and Lovage readers may have seen my previous two filtered water posts where I have shared two sparkling recipes that show off the benefits of using filtered water and the results can be seen in the vibrant colours as well as in the taste too:
For me, the benefits of filtered water is that all your ingredients shine and the taste is not marred by the taste of chemicals or whatever your local water companies choose to add to your tap water and, a fixed filter tap is the way to go for constant (and easily available) filtered water. My lovely new Brita tap was fitted for me by experts and the benefits I have reaped goes way beyond cooking and baking, plus I don’t have any need to purchase bottle water now, so I feel that I am in some small way I’m helping to “save the planet”. My tap of choice was the VERY elegant Ceto tap by Brita: “Contemporary, sleek and fuss free – in brushed or Chrome this dispenser oozes elegance and sophistication whilst retaining all the functionality required from a water filter system. The perfect accompaniment to any modern kitchen”. I chose the Chrome version as I am decorating my kitchen soon and I’m steering towards sleek modernity with a touch of rustic charm, so the tap seemed to fit!
As well as discussing the benefits of how ingredients shine when filtered water is used in the kitchen, I would also like to remind you all about the Showcase Your Food contest too; Brita and Delicious magazine want all artisans, home bakers or any budding food producers to share their recipes to be in with a chance to showcase their food at The Big Feastival this year (29th to the 31st August) Whether your fairy cakes fly of the table at cake stalls or your marmalade has an aristocratic provenance, Brita wants to hear from you! They have teamed up with food magazine Delicious to find people who share the same passion as me, to discover people who are making amazing food and drink in their homes using filtered water and quality, local ingredients to create the best flavours possible.
