Cheeky little Tapas pickles on skewers that are great when served with apéritifs.
Ingredients
- 16 silverskin pickled onions
- 16 pieces of chargrilled red pepper in vinegar
- 16 pimento stuffed green olives
- 16 pieces of hot green pickled chillies
- 16 pieces of gherkin (or 16 small cornichons)
- 16 cocktail sticks (plastic ones are best, or plastic sandwich sticks)
Note
These easy tapas called Banderillas get their name from the barbed darts used during a bullfight, fortunately for all of us, my banderillas aren't dangerous and are a very simple-to-prepare. They require no cooking, and if you can manage to open a jar and skewer the ingredients on a toothpick, then congratulations, you can make banderillas! There are many types, some have cooked meats, cheese and vegetables, as well as seafood, sausages and ham, but I LOVE these little pickled ones for a zip when served with apéritifs and cocktails.
Directions
Step 1 | Simply take your cocktail sticks, or sandwich skewers and thread the pickled on in the order listed, with the gherkin being to the bottom and the silverskin onion being to the top. |
Step 2 | All types of pickles can be used, but these five types make a nice appetiser with a bit of attitude! These are wonderful served with cocktails as well as being part of the Tapas table. |
