Note
Now you can make a tasty takeaway for Chicken Döner Kebab at home, with a Tefal Optigrill and some every day seasonings and herbs! Serve with grilled pitta breads, Greek yoghurt and salad for a fabulous "Fakeaway"!
Directions
Step 1 | Make sure the chicken breasts are chilled or even semi frozen before slicing them; slice them very thinly into strips. |
Step 2 | Mix the chicken strips and sliced onions together and put them into a covered container. |
Step 3 | Mix the oregano, olive oil, yoghurt (if using), garlic, salt, pepper and lemon juice together to make a paste. Spoon the paste over the chicken and onions, turning them all over to coat. Cover and allow to marinate in the fridge overnight or for at least 4 hours before grilling. |
Step 4 | When you are ready to cook the chicken, turn the Tefal OptiGrill on and set it to the chicken setting. Allow to machine to heat up, the coloured dial will tell you when the machine is ready to use. (If you don't have this type of grill, use one that you do have, or grill the chicken conventionally under the grill in an oven) |
Step 5 | Place the chicken and onions on the grill, and close the lid. The grill has automatic sensor cooking which adapts the temperature and cooking cycle to thickness and number of pieces, and the machine will beep when the chicken is cooked - mine took 6 minutes and was cooked perfectly. |
Step 6 | Whilst the chicken is cooking, prepare the plates for serving; slice some cucumbers and wash some lettuce leaves. As soon as the chicken is cooked, cover it and keep it warm whilst you grill the pitta breads in the machine - again, there is a bread setting for grilling bread - mine took 2 minutes to cook. |
Step 7 | Serve the Chicken Döner Kebab with the hot pitta breads, lettuce, cucumber and Greek style yoghurt - you can also serve them with chips and a side salad too. |
